Jaguar announces debut single and original EP on her own UTOPIA imprint

Jaguar, ya conocida como creadora de tendencias, DJ y locutora de BBC Radio 1, lanza su sencillo debut «WILD!» en su sello UTOPIA, disponible ya junto con una gira y un EP de 4 canciones que se lanzará en otoño.

Aclamada como Héroe Underground de DJ Mag y Locutora del Año de Mixmag por su compromiso con artistas sensacionales como Barry Can’t Swim, Hannah Laing, Elkka, TSHA y Prospa desde el primer día en BBC Introducing on Radio 1 Dance, la explosión de creatividad de Jaguar produciendo, componiendo e interpretando sus propios temas es muy esperada por fans y colegas.

«Después de años de experimentar el síndrome del impostor y convencerme de que no era lo suficientemente buena para crear arte, encontré mi poder interior al reconectar con mi niña interior». En 2024, pensé: “¡A la mierda!” y finalmente rompí los límites que me frenaban, ¡y descubrí que era capaz de crear!, dice Jaguar, quien lidera el nuevo género que ha creado: UKC (UK C*nty).

En “WILD!” se pueden escuchar las influencias de Jaguar, definidas por más de 10 años de comisariar programas de radio y ser la creadora de tendencias de referencia para la música dance del Reino Unido, junto con su inmersión en la escena club queer y su amor por los bajos whoppers, los hi hats saltones y, por supuesto, la música pop. “Vogue” de Madonna recibe la respuesta de un clubber británico con una letra de rap ingeniosa y una línea de bajo inspirada en el UK Garage.
“Solo tienes un lanzamiento debut una vez, así que quería centrar este momento en mi 30.º cumpleaños [en abril] para simbolizar el crecimiento. Nunca me he sentido más viva, vivaz, con los pies en la tierra y en paz conmigo misma. He encontrado mi voz; puedes apostar a que la estoy usando ahora”. ¡Que empiece la nueva era de Jaguar!

El EP completo, que se lanzará en septiembre para celebrar el quinto aniversario de su sello UTOPIA, muestra a la siempre ambiciosa artista demostrando su talento como productora y compositora, aportando su voz y su talento para la palabra hablada a los temas en los que ha estado trabajando con amigos y colaboradores como Bullet Tooth, Jacana People, lleo y Air Wolf Paradise.

En 2022, Jaguar revolucionó la escena musical británica con su informe inaugural «Progressing Gender Representation in UK Dance Music» (Progresando la representación de género en la música dance del Reino Unido), elaborado por la Fundación Jaguar y Sony Music.

Jaguar, already famed as BBC Radio 1’s tastemaker, DJ & broadcaster releases her debut single ‘WILD!’ on her label UTOPIA, out now along with a tour and an autumn release 4-track EP.

Hailed DJ Mag’s Underground Hero and Mixmag’s Broadcaster of the Year for her commitment to championing sensational artists such as Barry Can’t Swim, Hannah Laing, Elkka, TSHA and Prospa from day one on BBC Introducing on Radio 1 Dance, Jaguar’s explosion of creativity producing, songwriting and performing her own tracks is highly anticipated by fans and peers alike.

‘After experiencing years of imposter syndrome and convincing myself that I wasn’t good enough to put out art, I found my inner power by reconnecting with my inner child. In 2024, I thought ‘fuck it’ and finally bashed down the boundaries holding me back and I found that I was able to create!’ says Jaguar, who’s spearheading the new genre she’s created – UKC (UK C*nty)!

In ‘WILD!’ you can hear Jaguar’s influences, defined by 10+ years of curating radio shows and being the go-to tastemaker for UK dance music, alongside her immersion in the queer club scene and love of bassy whoppers, skippy hi hats and of course, pop music. Madonna’s ‘Vogue’ gets a Brit clubber’s response in the whip-smart rap lyrics and a UK Garage inspired bassline.

‘You only have a debut release once, so I wanted to centre this moment around my 30th birthday [in April] to symbolise growth. I’ve never felt more alive, vivacious, grounded and at peace with myself. I’ve found my voice – you bet I’m using it now. Bring on the new era of Jaguar!’

The full EP, releasing in September to mark the fifth birthday of her UTOPIA imprint, sees the ever-ambitious artist flexing her production and songwriting muscles and lending her own vocals and spoken word skills to tracks she’s been working on with friends and collaborators Bullet Tooth, Jacana People, lleo, and Air Wolf Paradise.

‘I feel high when I’m making music. I’ve totally immersed myself in this EP and I’m loving every second of my production journey – from working with friends, to recording vocals – I’m having the time of my life!’ 

In 2022 Jaguar changed the landscape of the UK music scene with her inaugural report ‘Progressing Gender Representation in UK Dance Music’ from The Jaguar Foundation and Sony Music.
